The Laserfiche software developers have been listening to their customers and working hard to make some noteworthy changes and improvements to their Document Management software based on the feedback and requests of Laserfiche users. They’re excited to introduce Laserfiche 8 with its latest upgrades later this year.
The list of upgrades include developments across the entire product platform including a new search engine, new versions of Quick Fields and Workflow, and support for Web services including Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV).
Laserfiche Version 8 Highlights:
• An improved “firewall-friendly” Laserfiche system resulting in even better performance over Wide Area Networks as a result of the newly powered Laserfiche Server which will now use the HTTP protocol with WebDAV extensions
• Availability of new annotation tools, template field types and Recycle Bin functionality
• An updated interface for Web Access providing a search box on every page, allowing zooming and panning on images without page reloads and locating menu commmands close at hand
• Workflow 8 featuring a redesigned, easy-to-use interface that makes designing and publishing workflows much easier than in the past
Laserfiche 8 has successfully passed the rigorous testing required for the Department of Defense’s (DoD) 5015.2 certification—the de facto standard for records management applications. Meeting the DoD’s standards for records storage, retention and destruction demonstrates a well-designed system that will help records managers in all industries do their jobs more effectively.
To ensure there will be a smooth transition for those customers who wish to upgrade to Laserfiche 8 when it is available, General Code will be proactively evaluating the impact of the changes to the program and will let you know if there will be any issues that require data migration and related expenses relative to your current system.
