On January 25, 2006, General Code was honored to be one of only 30 companies to qualify for Pennsylvania’s COSTARS-6 SOFTWARE state contract purchasing program. General Code was the only codification company to qualify.
This is exciting news for Pennsylvania municipalities, counties, authorities and many other entities including all tax exempt nonprofit educational or public health institutions as well as other state affiliated agencies. All of these groups currently qualify for state COSTARS purchasing.

The State of Pennsylvania has set rigorous standards to establish the COSTARS contracts to facilitate the purchase of goods and services by simply issuing a purchase order to the state contract supplier of record. The volume purchasing results in lower prices. Using established state contracts eliminates the need for RFP or specification development, advertising, printing, mailing and bid evaluation. The end result is that the purchaser gets the lower price and faster service from a qualified vendor, and saves time and money in doing so!
General Code is excited about this opportunity. Many of our products are now available through the COSTARS-6 SOFTWARE purchasing program. They include Laserfiche® document imaging software, PC/CodeBook software and E-code access/codification with optional printed codes, and soon we hope to add Municity™, our code enforcement software.
General Code’s President, Gary Domenico, is pleased with the growing success the company is having in Pennsylvania, remarking, “We now serve over 850 municipalities and counties in Pennsylvania.” He adds, “The COSTARS program will provide a vehicle to better serve both our current customers as well as new ones in a more efficient cost-effective manner.”
