Susan Stevenson was a fan of document imaging as a way to get rid of paper long before she became the registrar at prestigious Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Va. She got her wish, however, when she discovered that document imaging is also a highly efficient and secure way to share files with other departments.
"I had wanted document imaging since I was at another college in Tennessee," she says. "It never made sense to me to keep all this paper around if there was an alternative. When I became registrar here three years ago, I began to research document imaging products and ultimately looked at nine."
"Document imaging was not a viable investment, however, until we realized that we could share it with the James Monroe Center for Graduate and Professional Studies, which is located on our Stafford campus about 10 miles away." Ms. Stevenson chose a Laserfiche solution. "When we saw that we could share records over our network and eliminate deliveries, everything fell into place."
