With an estimated 500,000 documents flowing through its offices a year, Western Illinois University in Macomb needed a faster, more efficient way to collect student loans and bills. They found the answer with Laserfiche.

Western installed a Laserfiche system in the business and purchasing departments last May. The school plans to expand to billing and receivables in the upcoming school year. Now there is no chance of misfiling any of their 13,000 students' loan agreements, correspondence or collection information.

Looking to the future, the university will use Laserfiche WebLink to retrieve documents internally. "If we want to branch out around campus it will be a lot easier with WebLink," said Dave Nelson, Financial Systems Coordinator for the university.

Nelson says Laserfiche will "make their lives a whole lot easier." No longer will staff have to search through the large basement full of file cabinets for a particular document. With Laserfiche they only need to know a little bit of information about a document and they can retrieve and print it out quickly and easily. "The images look nice and clean," Nelson added.
