General Code hosted its first Pennsylvania Southeast Region Laserfiche User Group in West Chester, Pennsylvania on October 15, 2003 and was very encouraged from the reaction of the nine municipalities and 18 people who attended. The municipalities, both users and non-users of Laserfiche, had excellent questions and information to share with one another.
During the morning session many municipalities spoke about their uses for Laserfiche. Jean Byers, Deputy Chief Clerk from Franklin County, PA uses Laserfiche to communicate information to their Commissioners. Jean each day scans the mail so that the Commissioners can review the mail without needing to come to the office to pick it up. Rick Craig from the Township of West Goshen requires developers to submit all drawings in an electronic format, which enables him to use the Laserfiche plug in Snapshot to place the images into Laserfiche. He then can provide the Planning Board with a CD of the plans and associated documents for their review prior to the Board meeting.
Of the municipalities surveyed at the completion of the User Group, 95% said that the session met or exceeded their expectations. Some comments from the municipalities present included, "presentation excellent," "I appreciate your help and customer support," "most useful - learning new ways to search documents," and "thank you so much for the opportunity to learn more about Laserfiche."
The Township of West Goshen was the recipient of the 1st annual Pennsylvania Southeast Region Visionary Award for their innovative uses of Laserfiche and their futuristic view of document management.
