Situation: The Village of Medina was interested in improving its system for storage, retrieval, and distribution of birth and death certificates. The goal was to consolidate all of the records into a single location and be able to retrieve any record quickly and efficiently.

Solution: During a needs assessment, General Code recommended a Laserfiche document imaging system. We created a customized package that included:

• Executive: a single user workstation where all the scanning, storage and retrieval of documents takes place.
• SnapShot: imports existing electronic files directly into the system, rather than having to print them out and then scan them back into the system.
• LSAP: the Laserfiche Software Assurance Program provides ongoing technical support and automatic upgrades whenever Laserfiche improves or modifies the software.

The plan for the project is to start small and expand the system to include more documents in the future. General Code provided on site training and recommended storing backup disks in an alternate location to protect vital records from fire and flood loss.
