Laserfiche is simple and easy to use.
We have first-hand experience of this at General Code. We had heard those "simple and easy" words before and were somewhat skeptical, but it really turned out to be an accurate description. Even those of us who were a little "technologically challenged" were amazed at how quickly we picked it up.
Laserfiche is efficient.
Think about the actual amount of time you spend looking for any particular document, especially if it has been stored away somewhere. A recent study done by the State of Nevada came up with some very interesting information. For example:
- It costs $2,150 a year to maintain one 5-drawer file cabinet in a government office. The average cost of one record being misfiled is $95.
- If paperwork handling could be reduced by just 20 minutes a day, it would save 2 weeks of personnel time a year.
Laserfiche is flexible.
It can be set up to mirror an existing filing system or to implement new ideas that have been put off because of the overwhelming task of moving all that paper. It is also completely expandable and upgradable to accommodate new needs as they develop. Laserfiche stores data in TIFF and ASCII format, both of which are non-proprietary. This means you can use existing equipment and be assured that even as technology advances, you will always be able to access your data.
With Laserfiche, documents don't get lost.
Another advantage of Laserfiche over paper storage is disaster recovery. If you were to photocopy each piece of paper and store it in two different places, the documents would eventually fill a football stadium. Your Laserfiche data is backed up every day and can be permanently archived and stored off site. You can also make your own CDs to store any part of your database in a safe place.
