Reason Nominated:
As the
Mayor of Pompton Lakes, it is my pleasure to recommend our Municipal
Clerk, Carol Kehoe, for the 2003 Municipal Clerks Honor Roll. Ms. Kehoe
is both an efficient and innovative Clerk. Not only does she manage
the responsibilities of the Clerk's Office, but she has also initiated
many community projects that have benefited our residents.
Ms. Kehoe
has developed and produced a community calendar which has become a staple
for our residents. All of the municipal services, boards/committees,
and school schedules and special events are on the calendar which is
mailed to every home in Pompton Lakes. Ms. Kehoe entered our Municipal
calendar in the 'Annual Municipal Public Information Contest' sponsored
by the Rutgers University for Government Services and it has been awarded
special recognition certificates for its attractiveness and completeness
for the past three years.
Leading
up to this past Veteran's Day, Ms. Kehoe invited Pompton Lakes' veterans
and their families to submit their service pictures and brief biographies
which are displayed on several boards in the Municipal Building and
will eventually be bound in a book and become part of the town's history.
The display was presented to the public at a veteran's gathering at
which all of our local veterans and their families were invited. Ms.
Kehoe and her staff had the municipal building decorated as a U.S.O.
Canteen bedecked in flags and buntings, 40's music playing and refreshments
donated and served by local youth and scout organizations. Our veterans
were overwhelmed by this tribute.
Another
project that Ms. Kehoe has initiated and manages that has become a yearly
event is our Town-wide garage sale. Held every July, this event brings
in hundreds of visitors into Pompton Lakes and is anticipated by our
residents who enjoy having an opportunity to 'clean house' and sell
items they no longer need - and of course to visit their neighbors and
buy their 'treasures.' Most importantly, this event brings the community
together and allows neighbors to meet each other.
Ms. Kehoe
recently served as President of her County Clerk's Association and aggressively
pursues both her own continued education and that of her staff also.
In the twelve years that she has been the clerk for Pompton Lakes, she
has professionalized her office which serves the residents efficiently
and politely. It is without reservation that I nominate Carol Kehoe
for the 2003 Municipal Clerks Honor Roll.
