Reason Nominated:

I am writing with the support of the Township Council to nominate Mrs. Mary Jane Jones, our Township Clerk, for the Municipal Clerks Honor Roll. In 1989, the Eastampton Township Council appointed Mrs. Jones to the position of the Township Clerk. She has provided the Township with exemplary service since her appointment demonstrating the highest ideals of her profession.

Mrs. Jones is a Registered Municipal Clerk in the State of New Jersey having received her license in 1988 from the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, Division of Local Government Services. This license is obtained only after passing a difficult training program and a comprehensive examination as prescribed by State law.

In addition to her role as Township Clerk she also serves as the Registrar of Vital Statistics, Chief Election Official, and plays a vital role in assisting the Township in various areas of land use and zoning. During the course of her tenure she has served as acting deputy township manager and has fulfilled other function of the manager's role during vacancies in that office.

In addition to demonstrating professionalism in the course of her career, she also became an advocate of her profession by assuming a leadership role in her association. In 1998, Mrs. Jones was chosen by her peers to serve a two-year term as President of the Burlington County Municipal Clerks Association for 1999 and 2000. During her tenure she was instrumental in expanding educational and professional development opportunities for her fellow clerks in Burlington County, making it easier to meet the State's stringent continuing education requirements.

It is with the above noted achievements, as well as many other accomplishments, that I nominate Mrs. Jones for the Municipal Clerks Honor Roll.
