In May of 2006 Mr. Godin was awarded the prestigious IIMC Quill Award. For over 25 years as the City Clerk he has been a constant participant and contributor to the professional organizations of the Province of Alberta and the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. He served as President, Education Director & Treasurer of the Alberta City Clerks Association and 2 terms on the Board of Director of the IIMC as well as on many committees of both organizations. Mr. Godin has made many presentations about government in the local school system and is a much sought after speaker on government services and issues by numerous civic and charitable organizations. He has been involved with serving several charitable and civic organizations such as the Canadian Diabetes Association, United Way and the local radio and television stations Advisory Boards. He is passionate about his long time involvement with the Minor Hockey Association and Sledge Hockey of Canada as coach and referee. He was the Canadian Referee for the 1998 Paralympics in Nagano, Japan.
