Marcy has been with the City of Derby for over eight years in the capacity of as the Assistant Town/City Clerk. In this time she has had to take over the role as the Acting Head Town/City Clerk when the Clerk with whom she worked under took ill and eventually had to retire. Again she was faced with the task of the Acting Head Town/City Clerk until a replacement was found. After several months of training the new Head Town/City Clerk (this is by Charter an elected position), she was once again faced with the task of training and supervising another Head Clerk, this being myself. I had a little advantage of working for the City of Shelton for over a year but nothing prepares you more than hands on, and without Marcy here, the City would be in grave danger and out of compliance in so many ways. Marcy has given extra time and effort whenever needed and if it was not an elected position and residency requirement, Marcy would win hands down.
But, the fact that it is an elected position and only a four year term, she needs the security of a full-time position that she knows will last for more than four years.

Again, I feel that Marcy McGuire fills all the requirements for this honor and submit her name for consideration.
