Municipal Officials Scholarship Program

General Code Supports Educational Opportunities for Municipal Officials

(General Code Decoder, Winter/Spring 2010/2011)

General Code has worked closely with municipal officials for decades. We know firsthand how hard you work and how much your communities depend upon the services you provide. These days there are many opportunities for officials to acquire new skills and knowledge to help in your pursuit of providing excellent service to your constituents. Anything from classes on using Microsoft Excel to municipal clerk certification programs are available—but they cost money!

For years, General Code has awarded scholarships to municipal officials to help you take advantage of these educational opportunities. This year:

Sandy Kunkel, Town Clerk in Milton, Wisconsin, wrote us in September to tell us that our scholarship “made it possible for me to attend several training sessions this past year.”

Bambi Avery, Town Clerk in Dryden, New York, attended the 2010 session of the Cornell Municipal Clerks Institute and let us know that the money we awarded her “certainly helped my budget this year.”

Mary Lucy Baca, Interim City Manager in Belen, New Mexico, wrote in March to thank General Code for the scholarship certificates awarded to herself and her colleague, City Clerk Audrey Torres, and to tell us that “with our tight budget it couldn’t have come at a better time.”

General Code is proud to support educational opportunities for municipal officials.
