LaserFiche® Document-Imaging Helps Town of Stockbridge Conserve Time!
Stockbridge, MA, October 10, 2000 - The Town of Stockbridge recently began using LaserFiche document-imaging software to access Town Minutes more quickly. In the past, each time a citizen or local official requested information, personnel from the Board of Selectmen's Office searched manually through bound records to produce related documentation. Now, a search spanning decades of meeting minutes, which chronicle decisions dating back to 1939, can be completed with a few simple keystrokes. And, the touch of a button provides the interested party with an exact duplicate of the record requested.
A fully searchable CD containing electronic images of the Town's Annual Meeting Minutes and the Board of Selectmen's Minutes makes this all possible. The CD is currently used by Jorja-Ann Marsden, Executive Secretary, and will be provided to the Town Counsel in the near future. Jorja says that her favorite feature on the CD is its easy-to-use interface. "It is a tremendous timesaver - the CD finds and searches the subject and within seconds I have my answer. I don't have to go page by page and year by year!" She credits the CD for allowing her to turnaround information requests in minutes rather than hours. LaserFiche is also helping Stockbridge preserve the original bound copies of its records by eliminating the need to access these historical originals on a daily basis.
The town chose LaserFiche document-imaging software after soliciting bids from local and national codifiers. General Code Publishers, a LaserFiche VAR and codification company with over 35 years of experience was selected to help the town by converting thousands of pages of original documents into electronic images. General Code imported the images into LaserFiche document-imaging software to provide search and retrieval capabilities and presented the town with the easy-to-use CD.
