Please note: AOL 7.0 and CompuServe 2000 users may experience navigational difficulties in the E-Code program. Clicking on the 'Next' button to advance through the text may cause the program to return to the first page of the document.

General Code is aware of this issue and is working to improve the E-Code functionality within the above-mentioned browsers. It is our understanding that both America Online and CompuServe use a modified version of MS Internet Explorer. We believe the modifications are the source of the navigation problems some are experiencing. We are currently working with our vendors to upgrade E-Code to function correctly under the modified AOL and CompuServe browsers. Until the upgrade is complete, please follow these instructions to get the full benefit of the E-Code you are viewing:

  1. First, check whether Internet Explorer is installed on your computer. Click Start, Programs and look for Internet Explorer. You might also have an icon on your desktop. If Internet Explorer is already installed, skip to step 4.

  2. Download the browser. MS Internet Explorer 5.5, Service Pack 2, is recommended. You can download it for free from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/search.asp?. Follow Microsoft's prompts and instructions. The files are large; you can speed up the process by installing only the browser and declining the other optional pieces of software. Microsoft might mail you the installation on a CD if you request it, but there may be costs involved and it will take additional time for delivery.

  3. Install the browser. Again, the Microsoft prompts and instructions will lead you through the installation process.

  4. Connect to CompuServe as you normally do. Minimize the CompuServe window and then launch Internet Explorer. Navigate to the E-code through the link at www.generalcode.com. You still should be able to use the CompuServe browser for other web sites if you want.

Thank you for your patience. If you require further assistance, please call 800-836-8834 and ask to speak with our technical support staff, or e-mail General Code at techsupport@generalcode.com.
