Claudia Zuch
Senior Editor

Meet the Team: Claudia Zuch

Back in 2001, when Claudia Zuch answered a newspaper ad for a municipal code editor, she’ll tell you she had no idea what codification even was. Fast forward twenty five years, and she’s become a valued expert in the field—one of General Code’s Senior Code Editors.

Claudia knows the work isn’t for everyone — crafting municipal codes, analyzing legislation, updating it piece by piece — but for her, it’s the perfect fit. “As an attorney and a word geek, that intersection of language and law just clicks for me. And believe it or not, I really do enjoy reading legislation every day!” she says.

She also loves the “puzzle solving” aspect of editing. Every project brings new questions: Where does this law belong? What is the community trying to accomplish? How can I make these provisions clearer? That challenge is a big part of what keeps her energized.

Another thing she truly values is working directly with the people who keep local governments running. “It’s always a privilege to talk with a Clerk or Planner or sit in on a Council meeting to help communities understand codification and work through legislative challenges. And getting a firsthand glimpse of what communities are dealing with helps me be better at what I do,” she says.

Claudia feels lucky to work with an editorial team she describes as super smart, funny, and caring. Together, they’re committed to providing high quality codification services to communities across the country. “We care about our customers—the Clerks, Secretaries, Attorneys, everyone who serves their constituents—and we take pride in creating a product that makes their lives a little easier,” she says.
