This summer marks an exciting milestone in the evolution of two long‑standing leaders in municipal codification. Beginning in July, General Code and American Legal Publishing will officially unite under a new brand: ICC Code Solutions.

Together, General Code and American Legal bring 156 years of combined experience in the development and management of municipal codes. As ICC Code Solutions, two of the industry’s most trusted codifiers will now reach more than 7,000 communities across 47 states, Canada, and more than a dozen tribal territories. With proven digital solutions from both companies — ranging from online code platforms and zoning maps to robust code libraries — ICC Code Solutions customers will gain best‑in‑class tools, exceptional service, and expert guidance under one unified brand.

By uniting as ICC Code Solutions, we’re combining our strengths to deliver a more seamless experience and expanded resources for the communities we serve.

Under the ICC Code Solutions brand, General Code and American Legal Publishing are further strengthened by their connection to the International Code Council (ICC). As the world’s leading authority on building codes and standards, ICC provides a foundation of technical knowledge, digital innovation, and industry leadership.

By combining experienced teams, proven processes, and ICC’s digital resources, ICC Code Solutions is building a stronger foundation to meet the evolving needs of local governments. This new relationship will act to strengthen our ongoing commitment to supporting communities with trusted code content, innovative digital tools, and responsive service.

Customers do not need to take any action and will continue working with the same account and codification teams they know and trust. Projects will still be invoiced by General Code or American Legal Publishing, and no new contracts or W9 forms will be required.

As the brands transition to ICC Code Solutions, a unified website (ICCCodeSolutions.com) will be developed and presented to combine the valuable information from the current websites of General Code and American Legal. The Code Library will be accessible on this new website. An announcement will precede the launch of the new website.

General Code and American Legal Publishing will be unifying as ICC Code Solutions. You’ll see the new brand in emails, at conferences, and other public facing situations. Business services, such as invoices and contracts, and customer service email addresses, for the foreseeable future, will continue to be issued from General Code and American Legal Publishing.

Phone numbers will not change, and you’ll continue working with the same account and codification teams you know and trust. As part of the brand transition, emails will eventually change to the @iccsafe.org domain. We will give advance notice of this change to give you time to update your contacts.

There will be no staffing changes associated with this unification. Your sales representatives, customer service team members, editorial and production staff, and training and technical support personnel will all remain the same.

Existing agreements will continue under their original terms and conditions since the company you’re contracting with remains the same.

General Code and American Legal Publishing have maintained headquarters and satellite offices for many years. These offices will remain in place under ICC Code Solutions.

eCode360, eCodeALP, and MapLink will not be affected by this change at this time. All will be available at the centralized Online Code Library for easy access. If you currently link directly from your own website to your community’s online code or interactive map, that will not change.

We’re excited to share that, in the near future, all online codes will be using the feature-rich eCode360 platform.
