Accessibility at General Code
At General Code, accessibility reflects our commitment to inclusive civic engagement. We believe that everyone should be able to access municipal codes and legislative content independently, privately, and with ease. That’s why we’re actively working toward full conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, the standard referenced in the ADA Title II Final Rule issued by the U.S. Department of Justice.
Why Accessibility Is a Priority
Accessibility is about ensuring that all individuals — regardless of ability — can engage with civic information and services. While the ADA Title II Final Rule sets enforceable standards, General Code’s commitment goes beyond conformance. We’re building digital experiences that reflect the values of equity, independence, and community participation.
General Code is aligning its eCode360 platform with these standards through a multi-stage remediation plan. We’ve completed a comprehensive audit and are actively enhancing features to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. However, full conformance also depends on the accessibility of the legislative content hosted on our platform.
We encourage our clients to review the documents below and begin preparing their code content accordingly. Together, we can ensure that municipal codes are accessible to all members of the community.
As part of this effort, we’ve published key resources to help our clients understand our accessibility goals, current conformance status, and how they can contribute to accessible legislative content.
